چکیده

Theory: In thermodynamic calculations of molecular equilibria in high-temperature cosmic gases, is so stable that it consumes the entirety of whichever of C or O is the lower in abundance, leaving the excess of the more abundant element to form other molecules and condensates. The best estimate of the solar C/O ratio is 0.50 [1,2], yielding oxide and silicate condensates, and of the H/O ratio is 2041 [3], yielding a very reduced system. Virtually all oxygen in excess of that in and condensates reacts with hydrogen to form , and virtually all of the remaining hydrogen forms . During condensation of a solar gas at 10 CO(g )

Chondrules: Precursors and interactions with the nebular gas

Chondrule compositions suggest either ferroan precursors and evaporation, or magnesian precursors and condensation. Type I chondrule precursors include granoblastic olivine aggregates (planetary or nebular) and fine-grained (dustball) precursors. In carbonaceous chondrites, type I chondrule precursors were S-free, while type II chondrules have higher Fe ⁄Mn than in ordinary chondrites. Many typ...

Iron Sulfide Formation in Astrophysical Environments: Experimentally Produced Sulfur-bearing Silicate Smokes

Introduction: Nanophase Fe-sulfides in association with amorphous silicates are ubiquitous components of the matrices of the most primitive carbonaceous chondrites [1,2], chondritic in-terplanetary dust particles [3-5], and samples from Comet 81P/Wild 2 [6,7]. Furthermore, observations of the outer disks of young stellar objects suggest that sulfides may be the primary reservoirs for S [e.g., 8...

Formation of metal in the CH chondrites ALH 85085 and PCA 91467 ANDREW J. CAMPBELL* and MUNIR HUMAYUN

Siderophile element distributions within individual metal grains in two CH chondrites, Allan Hills 85085 and Pecora Escarpment 91467, were measured by laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Those metal grains that are zoned in Ni were also found to be zoned in other refractory siderophile elements, such as Ru, but not in Pd, which is not refractory but is highly siderophil...

Evidence for Fractional Condensation and Flash Reheating from Volatile Rich Objects in Ch-chondrites

Introduction: CH-carbonaceous chondrites have excess FeNi-metal and are strongly depleted in moderately volatile and volatile elements (Mn, Na, Zn, Se), but have CI refractory element/Mg ratios [1]. In contrast to other carbonaceous chondrites, CHs have high modal abundances of chondrules (~70 vol.%) with a mean diameter of 70-90 μm, FeNi-metals (~20 vol.%) and very low fractions of matrix (~5 ...

Evaporation of nebular fines during chondrule formation

Studies of matrix in primitive chondrites provide our only detailed information about the fine fraction (diameter <2 μm) of solids in the solar nebula. A minor fraction of the fines, the presolar grains, offers information about the kinds of materials present in the molecular cloud that spawned the Solar System. Although some researchers have argued that chondritic matrix is relatively unaltere...
